Lyle Owerko is a photographer and filmmaker who has been working on his iconic Boombox series since 2005 when he began photographing vintage portable stereos. This series has grown to include sculptures and other media, and was made into The Boombox Project, a book published by Abrams. Here, the artist has photographed his own sculptures of boomboxes, adding another layer to his media. Known for his keen perception and knowledge of urban movements, Owerko’s visual images have found an indelible place in the lexicon of pop culture depicting the seminal objects that defined a generation of youth.

Owerko’s work can be found in private and museum collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
